Due Dates and Times in Blackboard

Question:
What time zone is listed for assignment due dates in Blackboard?
Answer:
Faculty members are encouraged to set assignment due dates consistent with Arizona time, as well as being flexible. However, it is at the discretion of the instructor and not policy to allow an 8 hour grace period.

Faculty can view the current time in Phoenix and how it differs from their timezone. To access this, faculty can use the following steps:
  1. Under Details & Actions click Books & Tools
  2. Click Arizona Clock
Notes:
  • November 1st 2019 the late assignment policy was updated University wide.
  • If a student is in a time zone outside of Arizona, the due date/time will display according to their time zone. For example: The instructor sets the due date as 6/1/2020 11:59 PM. A student in the Eastern Time zone will see the due date as 6/2/2020 2:59 AM.
  • Another example which may occur during Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes. Before DST, your class assignment may show Pacific Standard Time (PST). The DST change occurs and the weeks after change display Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). This is only an example and may vary depending on your time zone.
